After saving a little money he set off for Europe in late 1983 to be nearer to classical music roots ; hitch hiked and busked with a flute from Barcelona to Montpelier to Bern & Geneva, to Paris... then after a temporary stay in Paris hitch hiked again to Cologne, Hamburg, Stockholm (to explore his maternal roots and visit Swedish relatives) then to Amsterdam, back through Bonn to visit Beethoven's birthplace and returned to Paris for 2 years. He went back to Saratoga NY on some family business for nearly a year before returning to Paris and marrying a French women and settling down.

His father (a Wall Street man) was an avid amateur photographer starting in the Marine Corps, worked briefly as an assistant for a Life Magazine photographer thus passed down a passion (and many useful basics) for photography as one more natural element for an active creative life.

Mark Suits enjoys a life of passionate creativity both as a philosophic edge and microcosm of the human experience. For him, working with people to create something produces a mutual privilege of understanding that real wealth comes from with-in and is measured by what we thus offer to others via action. Culture being humanity at it's best always becomes what is most valuable and sought after be it concerning commerce today, or historic patrimony.

During the past twenty five years, Mark Winston Suits has suppressed, if not hidden the fact that he is a composer pianist to concentrate on photography. His objective was to succeed as a professional photographer before returning to music . This site is thus bridge between these arts marking not an end of photography, but the merging of passions.

Teaching piano privately in his first few years in Paris eventually merged with photography in the form of various freelance photography opportunities. Eventually phasing out private piano students, he gravitated towards photography as a profession.

Around the birth of his two children in the mid 90s he sought production for his opera project and found much support from high places in the artistic community, but rather a reluctant reception from production people as a musical vedettes by an unknown is an expensive risk. One producer told him "I'd love to produce this for the stage, but the public wants big name standards like Porgy n' Bess, The Magic Flute, West Side Story or Carmen."

With the idea to succeed as a photographer and then return to music, abandoned his completed libretto but incomplete score to devote professional time to photography (and the rest to his children), but never lost sight of his art of all arts and passion of passions : music. After a twenty year pause he returned to the piano a rather rusty at first with the idea to finish and produce what he calls a " punk classical opera" .

Opera being the original multi media art, is compatible and collaborative ("no man is an island" and "what goes around comes around") with creative energies in photography as well as poetry, fashion, design, dance, theater and even make-up.
